Start for the 2022 training program for history teachers
The ultra-nationalist discourse, marked by xenophobia and intolerance towards minorities or immigrants, has been making its presence felt throughout Europe for many years. Romania is no exception, despite the existence of legislation that punishes extremist manifestations, discrimination and hate speech.
Frequently, this phenomenon that endangers human dignity and democracy is based on attitudes and positions that characterized the scene of the Romanian extreme right in the interwar period. As the formation of young people for a democratic society is influenced by both family and school, a great responsibility rests on the shoulders of teachers who address in their subjects aspects of modern and contemporary history related to Romania's path to democracy.
