New Dimensions of World Domestic Politics

Lecture series on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Chancellor Willy Brandt

50 years ago, on December 10, 1971, German Chancellor Willy Brandt was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his Ostpolitik as a commitment to peace and security in the Cold War world, on the one hand, and his advocacy of deepening Western integration, on the other. From the United Nations Agenda 2030 to the Guidelines for a More Peaceful World, Willy Brandt's main ideas have found expression in German and international politics.

We are very proud to announce a new lecture series organized by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in cooperation with Bonn University. The planned lectures aim to address Willy Brandt's ideas and impulses in international policy with a view to today's challenges. The series celebrating the 50th anniversary of Willy Brandt's Nobel Prize award will include a special event „Peace Policy of Our Time“ on December 8, 2021, which will address the question of how social democracy can revitalize the European peace project in a increasingly confusing world.

While the lectures will take place in Lecture Hall I of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, they can also be followed via livestream on the FES website. The livestreams of the following lectures will be available in German and English:
