Trade union organizing programme for workers in commerce sector (Predeal, 9-11 February 2024)

We promote social dialogue and fundamental rights at the workplace for employees in the Romanian commerce sector, including those working in supermarkets and hypermarkets, to ensure decent working conditions.
In this respect, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Romania organized on 9-11 February 2024, in Predeal, in partnership with UNI-SEEOC (UNI Global's South-East European Centre), a training program for Sindicom’s members, the national trade union of Auchan hypermarket.
The training programme sessions were conducted in an interactive way, encouraging the share of experience and the dialogue. The participants discussed the effectiveness of the tools used to identify different problems at the workplace, the techniques to promote union membership, but also issues related to the new legislation on social dialogue and its implementation for the best modalities of collective bargaining and representation in different internal structures.

Sindicom was established in 2023 by an initiative group of Auchan employees from across the country, with the scope to negotiate fair salaries and better working conditions, including on issues related to working hours, breaks and holidays, workload/employee and other wage and non-wage benefits. Sindicom is affiliated to the Romanian Federation of Trade Unions in Commerce Sector and to UNI Global Union.
