Video - The political representation of women in Romania

After 1989, the political representation of women is one of the indicators of the quality of democracy where Romania is constantly in the last places at the European level.

Romanian women face the difficulty of being present in the electoral competition and the even greater difficulty of occupying eligible positions. Worryingly, the 2019-2020 elections record, for the first time after Romania's accession to the EU, even a decrease in the political representation of women, both at the national and at the European level. This despite the fact that recent sociological research shows that the perception of gender equality and the occupation of political positions by women has improved in the last 20 years.
More information on the subject can be found in this video of FES Romania which explains how things are regarding the political representation of women.
