Energy price crisis - causes and solutions

Energy prices have risen sharply in the last year. The liberalization process in Romania coincided with a widespread European energy price crisis, producing social effects that are likely to escalate.

Numerous causes of the price explosion have been circulated in the public space, as well as numerous solutions. However, the public debate remains poor in information, but rich in speculation.

Against this background Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Romania invites you to a new debate in the Sustainable Romania lecture series, which will take place on February 16, 2022, between 17.00-18.30. Together with Andrei Ilaș, our guest, we will discuss the causes of the increase in energy prices and the optimal solutions, at national and European level, to overcome the current crisis.

About the speaker:
Andrei Ilaș is an energy analyst, co-founder of nrgi.ai - an energy price analysis platform for industrial customers, founding member and board member of the Energy Cooperative. He graduated in Political Science from the University of Bucharest, Finance from the Academy of Economic Studies and Public Policy at the Hertie School of Governance. Between 2014 and 2018 he worked at the International Agency for Renewable Energy (IRENA) as a cost analyst, and before that he held various positions in business consulting in Romania. Between 2018 and 2021, Andrei worked as an analyst with Deloitte, the World Bank, Ember Climate, Carbon Tracker, TransitionZero, Frankfurt School, the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air and Declic.
