We are opening the registration session for the training program "Just transition and its challenges"
Context
The European Union has set itself the goal of becoming the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050. This goal involves replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy, but also sustainable mobility, waste management, circular economy. This process is not a simple one and risks affecting different categories of citizens and entire communities. To counteract these effects, the European Union has designed the mechanism for a Just Transition, focusing on the regions, industries and workers that will face the greatest challenges. The principle behind the concept of just transition is that ambitious climate policies can and must go hand in hand with more social justice. The fund for a Just Transition will help EU countries, including Romania, to overcome the social and economic impact of the transition to climate neutrality more easily, being closely linked to the implementation of the European Green Deal.
Program description
In this context, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Romania organizes the training program entitled “Just transition and its challenges”. The aim of the program is to raise awareness and inform about the energy transition and its challenges and to better understand the opportunities and constraints associated with the phenomenon of just transition. Thus, the seminar will consist of a series of theoretical information and facts, combined with interactive exercises (role play) that will help participants better understand the stakes of the just transition process, the agendas and constraints of the various actors involved. The seminar will be led by a team of trainers from the Planpolitik Institute in Germany, an organization with over 10 years of experience in interactive and non-formal learning formats.
Target group
Our program is aimed at all those interested in climate policy and the green transition and who have the ability to further disseminate the information gathered in their communities. Participation in the program does not require advanced knowledge of climate policy, but interest and concern for the topic are essential.
