Study launch “The AUR Phenomenon and the Reconfiguration of the Romanian Electorate”

Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is pleased to invite you to the launch and discussion of the study “The AUR Phenomenon and the Reconfiguration of the Romanian Electorate”, conducted by sociologists Mircea Comșa and Bogdan Voicu.

The study is available here: Download PDF

The event will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Sheraton Bucharest Hotel – Platinum Room (5-7 Calea Dorobanților, Bucharest).

The study offers a detailed analysis of AUR’s electoral rise and the profound transformations this phenomenon is bringing about in the structure of the Romanian electorate. Drawing on recent sociological and electoral data, the research explores several questions essential to understanding the AUR phenomenon:

  • Who votes for AUR, and what is the socio-demographic profile of this electorate?
  • How has the party’s support base expanded, and what are its territorial characteristics?
  • Where do AUR’s votes come from, and what are the electoral transfer mechanisms that have fueled the party’s growth?
  • What values, perceptions, and fears define the AUR electorate?
  • What factors accelerated the party’s growth after the 2024 elections?
  • What do we know about support for AUR among the diaspora and the specific characteristics of this electorate?

The event will include a presentation of the main research findings, followed by a discussion session on their implications for the evolution of the Romanian political system and for future electoral contests.

We invite you to participate in this debate dedicated to understanding one of the most significant political transformations in Romania in recent years.
