Training Program: Eliminating Harassment and Violence in the Workplace. The Role of Trade Unions in Implementing ILO Convention No. 190.

A training programme for leaders and active members of trade union organisations

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Romania is organising a training programme for leaders and active members of trade union organisations (individual unions, federations, or confederations) on the topic of eliminating harassment and violence in the workplace, in the context of Romania’s ratification of International Labour Organization Convention No. 190/2019, which introduces changes to labor legislation in this area.

Leaders and active members of trade union organizations who wish to improve their knowledge of violence and harassment in the workplace and contribute to strengthening the role of the trade union movement in preventing and sanctioning such harmful behaviors at work and in providing adequate support to workers who are victims of harassment and violence.

 

We invite you to register for one of the sessions organized at the following locations:

  • May 22–23 – Bucharest

or

  • May 29–30 – Sibiu

or

  • June 5–6 – Iași

 

The training program will include:

  • clarifying the concepts of violence and harassment in the workplace, including gender-based forms;
  • presenting the relevant international and national legal framework;
  • highlighting violence and harassment as an occupational health and safety issue, including from the perspective of psychosocial risks;
  • strengthening knowledge on the prevention, reporting, and management of cases of violence and harassment;
  • strengthening the role of trade unions and union leaders in implementing the standards of ILO Convention 190 and national legislation;

Participation costs, including accommodation if applicable, are covered by FES Romania, with the exception of transportation expenses, which will be paid by the participants or the organizations to which they belong.

 

Selection criteria:

  • Leader or active member of a trade union organization—confederation, federation, or local union—for at least 1 year;
  • Availability to participate in the training program during the 1.5-day course. (starting Friday at noon, ending Saturday at 6:00 PM)

Priority is given to gender-balanced representation, and the participation of young people is encouraged. A maximum of 2 participants per organization will be selected to allow as many trade union organizations as possible to be represented.
