What Do Romanians Think About Environmental Issues?
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation Romania invites you to the launch and debate of the report "Socio-Ecological Transformations in Romania" by Roxana Bucată, an expert in environmental policy.
This report is based on a comprehensive survey conducted by the SINUS Institute across 19 countries in Europe and North America, including Romania.
The event will take place on Friday, May 31, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Goethe-Institut (Calea Dorobanți, no. 32, Sector 1, Bucharest).
The importance of environmental, nature, and climate protection is increasingly recognized by Romanians, yet it remains insufficiently integrated with social and economic issues. This survey provides a detailed insight into the attitudes and expectations of citizens in Romania and 18 other countries regarding environmental policies, highlighting differences across various demographic and social groups. The survey examines perceptions based on education, income, gender, age, and diverse social backgrounds influenced by beliefs and lifestyle.
Accelerating extreme weather events, ecosystem degradation, and pollution of water, air, and soil, along with the reliance on fossil fuels, are issues that increasingly affect people globally. To mitigate these devastating effects, the world is undergoing a complex ecological transition involving economic, social and political transformations. At the heart of this transition are citizens, who bear the costs but do not always reap the benefits. How can we ensure a responsible and just environmental transition for all? This question will be explored during our debate on May 31, drawing on the research data from UNISIS.
The event will be conducted in both Romanian and English, with translation services available.
We hope you will join us for this important discussion. Please confirm your attendance at office.romania(at)fes.de.
